here are a couple of photos of some fun artwork by David Billy, an artist in Brooklyn.

not sure how this fits into a serious definition of art, but it’s fun, and I think we could benefit by injecting more street art into our cities. especially if it’s humorous.

Why would art have to be serious? Art should be fun, and humor can go far. i think that sometimes as artists we forget to have fun and take ourselves too serious. Sometimes i’m more diguisted by complex art that the artist tries to draw a deeper meaning into than i am by simpler art that embraces enjoyment.
I don’t question whether it’s “art” due to its humor. in fact, I don’t even really have an interest in working out a complex, universal definition of art. but I’m not sure this would stand up to more rigorous attempts to set parameters for art (or Art, maybe).
that being said, this is clearly art in a very general sense — and I don’t mean to take away from it and what it accomplishes in any way. in fact, I really like it and want to see more of it!
I’d call it art, in that it’s expressive – albeit in a humorous manner. Someone had the vision, an idea and made a conscious choice to execute it so others could share the idea. I prefer the stairs. The execution of the hydrant is a bit average but that’s the way.
I think I can appreciate that take on art. there are more pictures of his work if you follow the link at the bottom.
